RICHMOND, Ind. – Hanover (16-5 overall, 1-2 HCAC) hit the road for Earlham on Friday evening surrendering to the Quakers 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 22-25, 23-25).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Three Panthers finished with double-digit kills led by junior
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) with 15 and a .235 hitting percentage. Junior
Maddie Robertson (Mitchell, Ind.) added 12 kills while sophomore
Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, Ind.) had 10 kills.
Freshman
Madison Schicker (Fishers, Ind.) added 15 digs with two assists.
Sophomore
Megan Vogel (North Vernon, Ind.) dished out 21 assists and collected 10 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hanover claimed the opening set using 16 kills and a set leading .361 hitting percentage to do it. The Panthers controlled play with a series of runs that helped them claw their way to the 18-11 difference. Senior
Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.) handled the rest as she landed a kill late in the set that secured the win.
However, the home team rallied to defend their home turf knocking off the Panthers in three straight sets to claim the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 when they welcome Ohio Wesleyan to Collier Arena.
