HANOVER, Ind. – The Blue and Red (17-5 overall) won a five set thriller on Saturday afternoon defeating Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action 3-2 (22-25, 25-10, 25-16, 16-25, 15-13).

Junior
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) led the attack with a team-high 19 kills while teammate sophomore
Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, Ind.) added 12 kills. Mays finished the contest with a .224 hitting percentage.
Freshman
Madison Schicker (Fishers, Ind.) tallied 23 digs while senior
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.) dished out 22 assists. Sophomore
Megan Vogel (North Vernon, Ind.) finished with 18 assists and eight digs.
As a unit, Hanover had 50 kills on 184 attempts. They also recorded 12 service aces.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Hanover dominated in set two stealing the early momentum from the Battling Bishops. Mays paced a 5-0 run that saw the Panthers propel to a 5-3 difference. The key moment came on the serve of Shicker as she paced a 14-0 run en route to the set win, 25-10.
The excitement continued as McCoy was able to help Hanover secure the go-ahead set. She led a small surge that gave HC the 18-11 advantage. Mays handled the rest from the service line helping to score the final five points for the 25-16 victory.
Ohio Wesleyan forced a set five that kept fans on the edge of their seats. In a very back-and-forth battle, Hanover came back from an 11-8 deficit. Mays called game moments later as she landed a game-winning kill.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 23 when they welcome Rose-Hulman to Collier Arena. Game time is set for 7 PM.
