RICHMOND, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (4-0 overall) completed the second-half comeback to knock off DePauw 78-72.
DePauw dominated early using a quick offensive surge to capture the 9-0 lead. Senior
Coleman Sater broke the run with a three-pointer, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers continued to hunt. They claimed a 22-14 difference before a junior
Avery Saunders (Ladoga, Ind.) tip-in pulled Hanover within 22-20.
The Tigers pushed double digits with just under five to play with a deep ball. But Hanover continued to grind this time with senior
Kyle Crim(Rockport, Ind.) hitting a layup in the lame. However, DePauw continued to dominate the first half entering halftime with the 41-37 advantage.
The second half saw Hanover go to work. The Panthers claimed the lead at the 17:44 mark with a Sater three-pointer, 43-42. The Hanover offense began to fire on all cylinders with sophomore
William Herald (Fort Thomas. Ky.) and senior
Michael Donoho connecting back-to-back blows, 56-55. Freshman
Malachi McNair (Evansville, Ind.) added a deep ball at the midway point before a
Kyle Crim long ball pushed HC on top 62-57.
DePauw threatened the Panthers taking the lead with 5:35 to play but Saunders once again silenced the noise. Down the stretch, Donoho deemed clutch with back-to-back scores to help Hanover secure the win.
