HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Volleyball team (21-7 overall, 5-4 HCAC) celebrated Senior Day as part of their regular season finale, defeating the Beavers of Bluffton (25-19, 25-15, 25-11).
Prior to the contest Hanover recognized three outstanding seniors –
Jessie Stenger (St. Leon, Ind.), senior Maggie Schwitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.), and
Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Stenger and junior
Maddie Robertson (Mitchell, Ind.) led the attack with a game-high nine kills each.
Schweitzer dominated at the service line tallying four service aces while recording 16 assists.
Junior
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) led the defensive effort with 14 digs.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Hanover dominated form the opening set as an 8-0 run pushed them in front 10-4. Schwarzkopf paced the run from the service line as sophomore
Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, ind.) and Robertson added a pair of kills along the way. With all the momentum, Schwarzkopf claimed a trio of kills that helped the Blue and Red take set one, 25-19.
The Panthers were red hot in set two, scoring nine of the first 10 points for a 9-1 advantage. It didn't stop there as McCoy and Robertson teamed up to extend the lead to 15-2. Freshman
Brooklyn York (Franklin, Ind.) called game with a monstrous kill, 25-15.
The final set belonged to Hanover after Schweitzer dominated from the service line securing a 8-0 run to give the Panthers a 21-9 advantage. McCoy also had success at the service line to propel Hanover to the straight set win, 25-11.
