DEMOREST, Ga. – The Panthers (1-0 overall) opened the season with an 8-4 victory over Wilmington on Friday afternoon as part of the Piedmont Invite.

Matthew Alter (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the start on the mound improving to 1-0 overall throwing six complete innings with five strikeouts. Junior
Chris Hautman (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) pitched relief for the Blue and Red throwing two complete innings with a team-high six K's.

Senior
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) led the Panthers in the three hole going 1-for-3 at the dish with two runs and two RBI. Teammate, junior
Andrew Oesterling (Batesville, Ind.) added two hits with two RBI and a run scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After surrendering two runs in the top of the first inning, Hanover responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, 3-2.

The Panthers added another run in the third inning before Wilmington tied the contest with a two run fifth inning.

Hanover added the final four runs of the afternoon plating two in the sixth inning and two in the seventh inning off the bat of senior
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) for the win.
