MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Panthers (2-2 overall) opened the week with a win over Eastern on Tuesday afternoon behind a solid performance from
Chris Hautman on the mound.
ON THE MOUND
Hautman threw six complete innings of fantastic baseball surrendering just one hit with nine strikeouts. Junior
Ashton Dickmann (Greenfield, Ind.) pitched relief for the Blue and Red throwing three innings with six K's.
AT THE DISH
Junior
Jake Danneman (Edgewood, Ky.) paced the Panthers at the plate going 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Sophomore
Robert Carroll (Hendersonville, Tenn.) added a game-high two RBI on two hits.
As a unit, the Panthers racked up seven runs on 11 hits with six RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hanover scored early and often in the contest as Carroll charted an RBI following a fielder's choice to shortstop in the top of the second inning, 2-0.
Senior
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) picked up an RBI in the third inning scoring Danneman, 3-0.
In the top of the fourth inning, Hanover blew the contest wide open as junior
Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) and Danneman both recorded a RBI, 6-0.
Eastern broke up the no-hitter in the sixth inning on a soft fly ball to center field before plating their lone run in the eighth inning.
Senior
Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) collected the final RBI of the afternoon propelling Hanover to the 7-1 victory.
Hanover returns to the diamond on Wednesday, Feb. 28 when they take on Methodist. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
