Hanover erases early deficit en route to win

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Hanover (2-2 overall) erased a 9-2 deficit on Wednesday afternoon to defeat non-conference foe Methodist, 13-12.

AT THE DISH
Senior Tj Laplante (Sheridan, Ind.) paced the comeback as he turned in an impressive performance at the dish going 2-for-5 with three RBI. Junior Reid Douglas (Rossville, Ind.) added a homerun while senior Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) recorded the games only triple.

COMBINED EFFORT
Senior Matthew Alter (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the start for the Panthers throwing 3.1 innings. Senior Wyatt Prather (Indianapolis, Ind.) recorded his first win of the season as he came in, in relief allowing just three runs on four hits. Junior Jaden Siemer (Edgewood, Ky.) captured the save with 1.2 innings and a strikeout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hanover scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning as senior Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) doubled down the left field line pushing junior Jake Danneman (Edgewood, Ky.) to third base. He scored on the next at-bat following a Methodist wild pitch, 1-0.

However, the defense for the Panthers struggled as they found themselves plagued with errors in the top of the second inning surrendering four runs, 4-1.

The offense looked to erase the deficit as senior Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) connected for a single through the right side that scored junior Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) in the bottom of the third inning, 4-2.

After Methodist hung a five run fourth inning, the Panthers went to work. Hanover was able to plate a run following a single by senior Tj Laplante (Sheridan, Ind.) before a Perkins hard hit ball to second and a Danneman sacrifice fly pulled HC within 9-5.

Hanover flipped the script in their favor in the bottom of the fifth inning as a junior Andrew Oesterling (Batesville, Ind.) single scored Roudebush before Laplante connected for an RBI that pulled the Panthers within 10-8. Danneman added the clutch double that propelled Hanover to their first lead of the afternoon, 11-10.

Junior Reid Douglas (Rossville, Ind.) homered for the Panthers in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Blue and Red pushed their lead to 13-10.

Hanover returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 29 when they take on Keystone. First pitch is slated for 11:00 AM.
