Hanover charts come from behind win over Keystone

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The comeback kids did it again as Hanover (4-2 overall) defeated Keystone in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at The Ripken Experience, 5-4.

ON THE MOUND
Senior Marcus Goodpaster (indianapolis, Ind.) dominated on the bump for the Blue and Red as the starter threw eight complete innings with seven strikeouts and just two earned runs for the win. Junior Jaden Siemer (Edgewood, Ky.) pitched relief picking up his second save in as many as two days.

AT-BAT
Sophomore Robert Carroll (Hendersonville, Tenn.) and senior Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) led the Panthers at the dish as they both recorded two RBI. Senior Tj Laplante (Sheridan, Ind.) turned in a 2-for-2 day including a run scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Keystone scored first as they plated two runs in the top of the first inning following a pair of Panther miscues, 2-0.

The Giants extended their lead to 4-0 after adding two more runs in the top of the third inning.

Junior Reid Douglas (Rossville, Ind.) remained patient at the dish in the bottom of the fifth inning to help cut the difference to 4-2. The junior saw nine pitches before reaching first on a hit by pitch. The at-bat sparked the Panther offense as Robert Carroll connected for an RBI to center field plating both Douglas and Tj Laplante.

Hanover tacked on another run in the bottom of the sixth inning behind a senior Conner Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) RBI to center field that scored junior Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.), 4-3.

The Panthers recorded their second comeback of the week in the bottom of the eighth inning as Alex Christie charted his first homerun of the 2024 season to left field propelling Hanover to victory, 5-4.

Hanover returns to action on Friday, Feb. 29 when they take on Bridgewater. First pitch is slated for 9:00 AM.
