Hanover splits day one at Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Panthers (9-4 overall) claimed a split in day one of a three game series at Wabash on Saturday dropping game one 8-7 before winning game two 11-8.
 
GAME ONE
ON THE MOUND

Senior Marcus Goodpaster (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the call throwing seven full innings with three strikeouts.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hanover surged ahead in the first inning as senior Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) collected the single with a center to right field, 1-0.
 
The Panthers extend their lead in the third inning as junior Jake Danneman (Edgewood, Ky.) and senior Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) both homered to push HC on top 3-0.
 
Leading 5-0, Wabash responded adding one run in the fourth inning before plating two in the sixth inning, 5-3.
 
The finally claimed the lead in the seventh inning before securing the win with a two run eighth inning, 8-7.
 
GAME TWO
ON THE MOUND

Senior Matthew Alter (Indianapolis, Ind.) claimed his second win of the season pitching five complete innings with three strikeouts. Junior Chris Hautman (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) pitched three innings of relief picking up his first save.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hanover scored early and often plating two runs in the top of the first inning following a senior Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) single, 2-0.
 
They extended their lead in the third as Christe captured his second homer of the series, 3-0.
 
Despite giving up runs in the bottom of the third inning and one run in the fourth inning, Hanover responded. They platted four runs in the sixth inning as Farnsley added his first grand slam of the season, 9-3.
 
Despite a five run eighth inning by Wabash Hanover weathered the storm to secure the 11-8 victory.
 
Hanover concludes the series with Wabash on Sunday, March 17 at noon.
