Baseball sweeps Earlham to remain in the HCAC title hunt

Richmond, IN- Hanover (24-11, 15-3 HCAC) finished off the weekend sweep against Earlham (13-19, 5-13 HCAC) to extend to 15-3 in HCAC play.
 
Game One
On The Mound

 Sophomore John Girard (Richmond, KY) got his fifth win of the season to move to 5-2 on the year. He threw seven complete innings striking out seven and only allowing six hits. Freshman Dalton Sisson pitched relief giving up only one hit and striking out two.
 
At The Plate
 The Panthers got off to an early lead against the Quaker's scoring seven runs in the first two innings with the main contributors being Junior David Newbanks (New Albany, IN) with a three RBI double and Junior Reid Douglas (Rossville, IN) hitting a two RBI single. 
 
The Red and Blue added some insurance runs in the fourth and sixth inning before giving up their first run making it 10-1 through six.
 
Earlham attempted a late game comeback scoring seven runs over the course of the seventh and eighth inning but were unable to contain the powerhouse Hanover offense.
 
 
Game Two
 On The Mound 

 Junior Chris Hautman (Lawrenceburg, IN) shut down the opposition, only allowing two runs and striking out six through six innings. Junior Ashton Dickmann (Greenfield, IN) came into keep the run rule in order allowing no hits and striking out two.
 
At The Plate
 Hanover got off to another hot start scoring four runs in the first two innings thanks to a Junior Jacob Danneman (Edgewood, KY) two RBI double in the fourth inning, 4-2.
 
The Panthers offense shut down the Quakers in the fifth inning scoring 10 runs with four home runs hit by Junior Andrew Oesterling (Batesville, IN), David Newbanks, Senior Alex Christie (Greenwood, IN), and Senior Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, IN). Earlham never woke up as Hanover went on to win the game in eight innings.
 
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, April 30th, to take on Spalding University and defend their home turf. Game time is set for 4:00 pm EST.
