MARYVILLE, Ind. – The Panthers (3-0 overall) completed the weekend sweep of the Maryville Invitational defeating Brevard in straight sets, 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-12).
Hanover dominated the contest, behind a strong performance by freshman
Nicole Stratford (Lanesville, Ind.), who recorded nine kills. Junior
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) added seven kills for the Blue and Red.
Senior
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.) dished out a game-high 17 assists. She also added four service aces.
The Panthers dominated from the opening serve using a 6-0 run led by sophomore
Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, Ind.) for the convincing 19-10 advantage. The rest of the set was history as the Panthers rattled off the final six points en route to the 25-11 victory.
In set two, Hanover continued to be all gas as senior
Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.) connected from the service line to give Hanover a 16-5 lead. The Panthers never looked back securing a 25-10 win.
The final set saw an impressive 11-point rally as the Blue and Red claimed the commanding 22-9 difference. The rally was more than enough as Hanover cruised to the straight-set victory.
Hanover returns to action on Friday, Sept. 6 when they travel to Capital to take on Comets at 5:00 PM.
