Hanover Hosts Berea for Annual "Pink-Out" Game for Breast Cancer Awareness

Hanover, IN - The Hanover College women's soccer team (4-6-2, 2-2-0) hosted the Berea College Mountaineers today for their annual "Pink Out" game; the theme of the game is to help raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. During the pre-game line-up announcements, players from both teams stood united at midfield as they held signs in support of those they know who have personally been affect by all types of cancer.

Today, the Hanover College women's soccer team was able to surpass their goal and raised over $1500 is support of the Norton King's Daughter Hospital (Madison, IN) and their fight against Breast Cancer.

Once the game got underway, the Panthers put on a show for the home crowd. HC put up eight total goals between five different goal scorers, and had five different playmakers assisting the scorers. HC out shot BU twenty to zero, putting sixteen on frame. Hanover also saw eight attempts from the corners.

Senior goalkeeper Emma Patterson played the first-half in frame for the Panthers, and freshman goalkeeper Emma Hartmann maintained the lead for HC through the second.

The Panthers had a five and three first-half and second-half goal split, netting eight total goals. Sophomore forward Emma Gil opened the flood gates for the Panthers and ended th game with three total. Sophomore midfielder Maddi Mosby had a career day, scoring back-to-back goals just over mid-way through the first-half. Sophomore forward Lily Clark, freshman forward Hallie Miller, and senior midfielder Olivia Patel each put one past the keeper as well.

Of Hanover's eight goals, six were assisted by a total of five different Panthers. Junior midfielder Cam Horsley, junior midfielder Kaleigh Schirmer, and sophomore midfielder Izzy Phillips each had one assist, with Schirmer and Phillips being part of a double-assist, while senior defender Erin Terry and sophomore forward Lily Clark each had two.

The Panthers went on to take the victory with a final score of 8-0. HC will return to action this Saturday at home for their Senior Day. The Panthers, now 5-6-2 and 3-2-0 in HCAC play, will host Manchester University in their final home game of the regular season. Kick-off is set for 1:00PM EST.
