LEXINGTON, Ky. – Hanover (15-10 overall, 3-3 HCAC) hit the road for Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Transylvania on Wednesday evening, falling in straight sets to the Pioneers 3-0 (16-25, 19-25, 15-25).
INSIDE THE STATS
Junior
Abbey McCoy paced the Panther attack with 10 kills on 32 attempts for a team-high .219 hitting percentage. She added six digs and two blocks.
Senior
Kelsey Waggoner added five kills and 10 digs, while teammate sophomore
Madison Schicker collected 12 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hanover made a strong push in set one, catching the Pioneers off guard. The Panthers were able to use the serve of McCoy, knotting the contest at 6-6. Senior
Elliot Mays halted a Transylvania 4-0 run that pushed them in front 10-7. Despite the early success from Hanover, the Pioneers were able to secure the win on a Panther hiccup.
Set two would see Hanover claim a 10-7 difference with freshman
Kinzee Dean at the service line. However, Transylvania used a mid-set surge that pushed them on top 12-10. The Pioneers finished with a game-high 15 kills in the set en route to the 25-19 win.
The final set was all Transylvania, finishing the three set match hitting .237 with 40 kills.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday when they welcome Earlham to Collier Arena for Senior Day.
