Hanover, IN - The Hanover College women's soccer team hosted HCAC opponent, the Mt St Joseph Universty Lions in a mid-evening match-up. The Panthers entered the contest 1-1 in HCAC play and 3-5-2 overall while MSJ came in at 3-6-2 and 1-0-1 in the conference.
HC played the lions in a competitive game all night long. The first-half was tightly contested, with MSJ scoring an assisted goal in the box in the tenth minute. The Panthers responded with fiery defense and tactical offensive moments. In the thirtieth minute, senior forward
Olivia Patel was able to take a touch and place a ball backside for senior forward
Lauren Rainbolt to finish with the header.
The two teams closed the half with chippy defense from both sides, and tied at 1-1.
In the second-half, both teams picked up right where they left off, with tempers flaring and aggressive play. Both sides' defense held strong until the end, and the Panthers ultimatelt fell 2-1, after a late goal by the Lions in the eightieth-minute.
Hanover was on the better half of a 15 to 8 foul split, and a 5 to 4 shots taken split. Senior back
