Wilmore, KY - The Hanover College Panthers men's basketball team defeated the Asbruy University Eagles 79-66 tonight to move to 2-1 on the season.
HC recorded 34 points in the paint, nine points off turnovers, and nine second-chance points. The Panthers also had 22 total points off the bench.
The difference in tonight's match-up was shooting efficiency, Hanover shot 30-64 from the field (46.9%) compared to Asbury's 24-66 (36.4%). Hanover also shot particularly well from three with an 11 for 30 split at 36.7%, whereas the Eagles fell behind in this category shooting just 4 of 26 from behind the arc.
Sophomore center
Malachi McNair recorded his second double-double this season with 18 and 14. Junior guard
Cam Freeman lead the team with 38 total minutes tonight, and posted a nine point, seven assist, and four rebound box score.
Senior forward
Davis Olson was second in minutes and banged four huge threes for the Panthers shooting 40% from three-point land, and sophomore forward Sheldon Gaitlin surged for 18 points on six of nine shooting from behind the arc in just 18 minutes.
Sophomore guard
Jeremiah Alexander had an all-around night on the stat sheet with six points, five boards, two assist, and three steals.
The Panthers move forward to 2-1 and look to recoup and regroup ahead of their match-up with Berry College. Hanover is on the road at Berry this Saturday, November 22nd, at 2:00PM.
