HC Rolls Though Warren Wilson for Their Third Straight W

Asheville, NC - The Hanover College Men's Lacrosse team, now 3-1 on the year, was able to extend their winning streak to three straight with a 22-6 road victory over the Warren Wilson Owls.

The Panthers got out to an early 6-0 lead just before the end of the first quarter. The first five goals for the Panthers were all assisted - Senior midfielders Owen Cuniffe and Owen Parker connected for the opening goal as well as the third, with freshman midfielder Kasey Hospelhorn splitting the two off an assist from senior attackman Alex Kleinhelter.

Just one minute after Parker's second goal, junior attackman Colin O'Brien was able to get himself going off an assist from fellow junior attackman Ethan Abdoo. The Panthers won the next faceoff and got right back into it on offense, and senior midfielder Owen Parker would notch his third point of the day with an assist to Colin O'Brien for back-to-back goals. Senior midfielder Owen Cuniffe was the last Panther on the board before the end of the first quarter, making it 6-0, unassisted.

With the Owls able to find a pair of goals at the end and beginning of the first and second quarters, Hanover knew it was time to kick it back into high-gear and rattled off five straight unanswered goals. Senior attackman Alex Kleinhelter was able to beat his man one-on-one to ignite the run. The senior midfield duo of Owen Cuniffe and Owen Parker was able to connect yet again as Cuniffe found a cutting Parker, making it 8-2 HC with over twelve minutes left to go in the first half.

As the second quarter progressed, Hanover's sophomore LSM Liam Fields was able to get involved on the offensive end after a successful clear and scored his first goal of his career coming off an assist from Owen Parker. Hanover's final two goals of the half would come from the attackman as senior Alex Kleinhelter notched his second assist behind junior Colin O'Brien's third goal of the day, and junior Ethan Abdoo extended the lead to 11-2 off an assist from freshman midfielder Kasey Hospelhorn.

Warren Wilson would not exit the half quietly however, scoring one more before the break, making it 11-3 heading into halftime.

Exactly one minute into the second half of action, senior midfielder Owen Parker picked up right where he left off and notched his fourth goal of the day as he went to the rack unassisted. The Owls responded quickly with one of their own, making it 12-4 and created some energy on their sidelines.

The Panthers went on the put together a run of seven straight goals through the remainder of the third quarter and to begin the fourth, and this run ultimately put the game to bed. Junior attackman Colin O'Brien got the ball rolling with back-to-back goals, assisted by senior midfielder Owen Parker and freshman attackman Dean Henderson. Senior midfielder Owen Parker then added to his already impressive point total with another goal, assisted by senior attackman Alex Kleinhelter, making it 15-4 HC.

Senior attackman Alex Kleinhelter kept things going with an unassisted goal of his own, followed up by another Colin O'Brien goal this time assisted by sophomore LSM Liam Fields. Then, the senior midfield pair of Owens, Owen Cuniffe and Owen Parker, connected once more for another goal/assist (Parker/Cuniffe) combo to begin the fourth quarter. Less than a minute later, senior defenseman Scott Dues found his way down the field to put up an assisted goal - this is Dues' second straight game with points on the board as a defenseman, providing infectious energy to his teammates.

The Owls, now trailing 19-4 after the Panthers' last goal, dug deep and put two more in the back of the HC goal midway through the final quarter. Hanover would respond by closing out with three unanswered goals from senior midfielder Owen Cuniffe (assisted by Colin O'Brien), junior midfielder Anthony Shepler (assisted by Ethan Adboo), and junior defenseman Josh Adams.

Hanover went on to win in dominant fashion, 22-6, marking their third straight road victory of the 2025 season.
