FRANKLIN, Ind. - GAME ONE - The Hanover Panthers (4-11 overall, 0-2 HCAC) took on the Franklin Grizzlies (10-5 overall, 2-0 HCAC) to open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action. However, the Panthers came up short losing 12-6.
AT THE PLATE
Hanover got their first run of the game following a wild pitch, credits to Senior Jacob Danneman (Fort Mitchell, KY).
The Panthers added two more runs in the following inning thanks to a fielder's choice hit by Danneman scoring Junior
Owen Boyce (Kennesaw, GA) and Junior
Trevor Jones (Indianapolis, IN).
Hanover tried to make a comeback in the ninth inning but were unable to, only scoring one run on an error.
ON THE BUMP
Junior
John Girard got the start for the Panthers tossing five innings allowing only one run with eight strikeouts. Senior
Ashton Dickmann (Greenfield, IN) came into relief for an inning striking out one. Sophomore
Ashton Carie (Madison, IN) pitched the final inning surrendering no runs.
GAME TWO
Hanover took on Franklin for the second game of the series hoping to tie it 1-1. However, the woes continued for the Panthers causing them to lose 10-8 and dropping to 0-2 in conference play.
IN THE BOX
The Blue and Red got the scoring started in the fourth inning getting three runs across which included an RBI triple by Sophomore Wes Stiller (New Palestine, IN), a fielding error, and an RBI single by Senior Jacob Danneman (Fort Mitchell, KY).
Hanover stayed quiet till the eighth inning scoring Freshman
Evan Baute (Pittsboro, IN), Senior
Sam Perkins (Louisville, IN), and Junior Joshua Simpson (Bardstown, KY).
Hanover showed some life for the comeback in the ninth inning off a two RBI shot hit by Danneman.
The Panthers hope to improve their conference record when they take on Earlham College on March 24. Game time is set for 1:00 PM EST
