Hanover, IN (Alumni Stadium) - Hanover College (5-1) defeated the Student Princes from Heidelberg University yesterday, extending their winning streak to 5, and earning their first home-win of the 2025 season.
The first quarter was tightly contested but the Panthers were able to strike first behind none other than senior midfielder
Owen Parker (unassisted). Two minutes later Heidelberg tied it up at 1-1, and the first period of play would go on to end in a stalemate.
To start the second quarter, Hanover rattled of five straight assisted goals, putting on a remarkable display of team-effort. Freshman attackman
Dean Henderson notched two assists by finding junior attackman
Colin O'Brien and senior midfielder
Owen Parker on the backside. O'Brien kept himself and the team rolling by finding his  junior attackman running-mate
Ethan Abdoo for his first goal of the day. Then, senior midfielder
Owen Parker came down and assisted junior attackman
Colin O'Brien on back-to-back possessions, putting HC up 6-1.
The Student Princes were able to find one more scoring opportunity before closing out the half, trailing the Panthers 2-6 at the break.
Once the second half of play started, HC picked up right where they left off and strung together six unanswered goals. Junior attackman
Ethan Abdoo was able to find his shooting stroke and put in back-to-back goals, assisted by senior attackman
Alex Kleinhelter. Kleinhelter was able to capitalize on having the ball in his stick again just minutes later and buried his first goal of the game (unassisted), increasing the Panther lead to 9-2.
Then, despite being a man-down, senior midfielder
Owen Parker was able to score off an assist from junior attackman
Colin O'Brien. O'Brien, still rolling off his four-point second quarter, went to the cage unassisted and extended the lead further at 11-2. Just over a minute later, senior attackman
Alex Kleinhelter found junior attackman
Ethan Abdoo again, this time for a one-handed shot and score. Heidelberg finally stopped the bleeding, netting their third goal, only for junior attackmanÂ
Colin O'Brien to score another man-down goal, his fifth of the day, assisted by senior midfielder
Owen Parker.
In the fourth quarter, the Panthers kept things rolling as senior defenseman
Scott Dues went on a one-man clearing mission and found junior attackman
Colin O'Brien on the fast break. Shortly after, the Panthers found themselves man-down once more, but senior attackmanÂ
Alex Kleinhelter still found away to make his presnece felt with another unassisted goal. Heidelberg was able to interrupt the run a little sooner this time, scoring and making it 4-15 - but senior attackman
Alex Kleinhelter went on to score his third of the day just moments later coming off an assist from freshman attackman
Dean Henderson, his third apple of the day.
Heidelberg would go quietly, putting in back-to-back goals to cut the lead to ten at 16-6, but the Panthers made sure to tag two more goals themselves with junior attackman
Ethan Abdoo assisting senior midfielder
Owen Cuniffe on HC's first man-up opportunity of the day, followed by senior midfileder
Owen Parker capping things off at 18-6.
