Panthers Win Second Straight Conference Game Over Spalding

Hanover, IN (Alumni Stadium) - The Hanover College Panthers took on the Spalding University Golden Eagles today at home in their third conference game of the year. Hanover was 8-3 overall heading into today's contest, and 1-1 in HCLC play.

The Panthers handily controlled every aspect of today's game and were able to coast to a 26-5 victory over Spalding through four quarters. Hanover won every statistical category with the exception face-offs while putting up 66 total shots, picking up 60 total ground-balls, and scoring 18 unanswered goals through the second and third quarters.

Hanover had nine different athletes on the stat sheet with goals today, including junior attackman Colin O'Brien (7), senior attackman Alex Kleinhelter (5), junior attackman Ethan Abdoo (3), freshman midfielder Kasey Hospelhorn (3), senior midfielder Owen Cuniffe (2), junior defenseman Josh Adams (2), freshman attackman Dean Henderson (2), senior midfielder Owen Parker (1), and sophomore midfielder Gabe Hetrick (1).

Of the Panther's 26 goals, 16 of them were assisted by one of seven different athletes, including senior midfielder Owen Parker (5), junior attackman Ethan Abdoo (4), senior attackman Alex Kleinhelter (2), junior attackman Colin O'Brien (2), senior midfielder Owen Cuniffe (1), junior midfielder Chris Bishop (1), and freshman attackman Dean Henderson (1).

HC also saw a ton of success creating turnovers on the defensive end and in transition, coming up with 19 total caused turnovers. Freshman midfielder Kasey Hospelhorn lead the team in caused-turnovers with 4 total, followed by senior defenseman Scott Dues (3), junior defenseman Josh Adams (3), freshman defenseman Leonard Hughes (3), senior midfielder Owen Cuniffe (2), junior attackman Ethan Abdoo (2), senior midfielder Owen Parker (1), and junior defenseman Aidan Gonzalez (1).

Senior goalkeeper Lance Guttormson started and played the entire first-half, stating 6 saves through thirty-minutes of action. Junior goalkeeper Matthew Hillard started the second half for the Panthers and stopped 4 shots during his time in crease, and freshman goalkeeper Michael Lang closed the game for the Panthers through the final fifteen minutes of play.

Hanover's next game is next Saturday, April 19th against Earlham College at 1:00PM EST. The game will be in Aulmni Stadium and the team will be honoring their seniors for Senior Day as this is also their last regular season game of the 2025 season.
