HC Draws 2-2 at DePauw

Hanover, IN - Yesterday, the women's soccer team traveled to Greencastle, IN to take on the DePauw University Tigers. HC entered the contest 2-3-0 and eager to bounce back from after suffering a loss at home last weekend, and the Tigers came in at 4-1-0.

The Panthers stumbled early, going down 0-1 in just the fifth minute of play.  The rest of the first-half was a possession battle and HC was able to put three shots on frame and attempted five corners. Still trailing 0-1, Hanover entered the half-time break feeling restless.

As the second half got under way Hanover started to find their offensive rhythm and began stringing together some great passing. In the sixty-sixth minute senior defender Anna Beth Hawkins connected with junior midfielder Cam Horsely to tie things up at one-all.

Hanover continued to compete with grit and intensity up and down the field. As the half progressed HC kept putting chances on frame and another one eventually paid off when sophomore forward Lilly Clark netted her first goal of the season to put the girls up 2-1 in the eighty-seventh minute.

A minute late, DePauw responded with another goal, tying the game at 2-2. The match would go on to end in a stalemate, moving the Panthers to 2-3-1 on the season.

HC tallied nine total shots (tying DePauw) and landed all nine on frame. Senior goalkeeper Emma Patterson played all ninety minutes in frame for the Panthers and tallied two saves.

Hanover will take the field again Friday, September 19th, at Ohio Weslyan University for a 7:00PM EST kickoff.
