HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers are set to kickoff the 2025 campaign under the lights. Hanover will hit the road for Centre with game time slated for 7:00 PM.
STOUT DEFENSE
The Panthers return several key members of their defense who ranked among the best in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Hanover led the league in fewest yards allowed (193.9) per game, fewest touchdowns given up (17), and defense efficiency (117.2).
Senior
Ashton Schuetter (Jasper, Ind.) joins the defensive unit as a starting linebacker, tallying 29 total tackles (19 solo-10 assisted) last season. He added 3.5 tackles for loss with two sacks and an interception.
Senior
Aidan Jochem (Huntingburg, Ind.) returns to the linebacker position after recording 36 tackles, including 24 solo stops. The senior also had 2.5 sacks, five tackles for loss and two pass breakups.
Sophomore
Brian Wall (Sellersburg, Ind.) returns after earning First Team All-Conference honors last season. He ranked second in the league in solo stops with a team-high 48. He finished the 2024 campaign with a team-high 71 stops, seven tackles for loss, eight pass breakups, and one interception.
Senior
Jett Massey (Mooresville, Ind.) brings experience to the defensive line for the Blue and Red, posting 4.5 tackles for loss with a sack and a pass breakup.
Junior
Quinn Jenkins (Goshen, Ohio) will help provide depth at the defensive back position.
ON THE ATTACK
Junior
Eian Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) returns as the signal caller for the Panthers, making his third season start. The junior led the league in 2024 in passing touchdowns with 29 through 11 games. He added five rushing scores. Roudebush ranked second in the HCAC in total yards at 2,518 and first in total completions (217).
Junior
Curbrian Shelby (Indianapolis, Ind.) looks to be a top target for Roudebush this year. The junior wide receiver recorded five receiving touchdowns on 23 receptions. He averaged 33.7 yards per game.
Senior
Bryce Shepherd (Fort Mitchell, Ky.) and sophomore
Jack Pennington (Seymour, Ind.) return in 2025, adding experience to the Hanover attack.
THE 2024 SEASON
The Panthers posted an 8-3 record, including a 5-1 mark in Conference play and winners of the 94
th Annual Victory Bell Game at Franklin, 31-27.
Hanover concluded the 2024 campaign with a win in the Opendorse Forever Lawn Bowl, dramatically defeating Wabash, 13-10. Senior
Clint Hearne (Madison, Ind.) secured the win with a 37-yard field goal as time expired.
THEOBALD AT THE HELM
Head Coach
Matt Theobald enters his 10
th season at the helm of the Blue and Red. In his nine seasons, Theobald has posted an impressive 53-34 mark and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
HANOVER AND CENTRE
Centre leads the series dating back to 2010, 2-10 overall. Despite the season-opening woes, Hanover plays their best ball at Centre, picking up two wins, including a 2023 victory, 10-7.
Roudebush led Hanover under center last year, throwing for a game-high 270 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Panthers added two sacks, one interception, and three pass breakups.
COMING HOME
The Hanover home opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 13, when they welcome Division I foe Butler to Alumni Stadium. As part of the contest, the Panthers will also induct three new members into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
