Hanover Announces Lauren Hawley as Head Softball Coach

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of head softball coach Lauren Hawley.

"We are thrilled to welcome Lauren as our next Head Coach for Hanover College Softball. She is joining us at an exciting time. We believe Panther Softball has tremendous opportunity ahead, and I am confident that she has the experience, energy, and vision to help move this program to the next level," added Vice President for Athletics Mark Shook.

"Lauren brings with her an impressive playing career as well as a strong collegiate coaching background rooted in player development, recruiting, academic support and a commitment to the student-athlete."

"I am deeply honored and grateful to be named the next head softball coach at Hanover College. I want to extend my sincere thanks to Vice President for Athletics Mark Shook, President Dr. Lake Lambert, and the entire athletics administration and staff for placing their trust in me to lead this program," said Head Softball Coach Lauren Hawley.

Hawley comes to Hanover with seven years of NCAA Coaching experience spanning both Division II and III with her most recent stop coming as an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. During her time at UNC Pembroke, she helped the program achieve eight program offensive and defensive records as well as improve the team's winning percentage by 65% over four seasons. Lauren also helped develop 12 All-Conference selections and multiple All-Region honorees.

"From the moment I stepped onto campus, it was clear that Hanover is a special place with a strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence. Having already had the opportunity to meet with the softball student-athletes, I am even more excited by their dedication and passion. I am ready to begin working alongside them and helping each player reach their full potential on the field and in the classroom," added Hawley.

Prior to UNC Pembroke, Lauren spent three seasons at the University of Mount Union, where she helped guide the Purple Raiders to a 67-27 record and an Ohio Athletic Conference regular-season title as well as a national ranking. She was also a part of the OAC Coaching Staff of the Year in 2021.

"What excites me most about Lauren, however, is how well her philosophy aligns with what we want Hanover Softball to become. It centers on developing the whole student-athlete—academically, athletically, personally and as leaders.

She understands Division III athletics, understands the importance of recruiting student-athletes who are a strong fit for our institution, and is committed to building a competitive program that reflects the mission and values of Hanover College," added Shook.

"I come into this role both deeply humble and fiercely hungry. We are going to build a culture rooted in grit, accountability, and relentless effort. I can't wait to dive in, make a lasting impact, and elevate Hanover Softball to the next level," said Hawley.
