Panthers Surrender HCAC Test at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Panthers (13-11 overall, 9-8 HCAC) surrendered a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon to rival Franklin. Hanover fell 82-72.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Junior CJ Walls led the Panthers with a team-high 23 points and seven rebounds. Junior William Herald added 17 points while sophomore Jack Miller added 12 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Franklin had the Panthers on the ropes early as they were able to secure a 15-7 advantage. Sophomore Jeremiah Alexander halted the surge as he hit a three-pointer at the 12:22 mark to cut the difference, 19-12. Hanover continued to execute offensively as Herald flipped the score in favor of the Blue and Red, 24-23, with 8:21 to play.

The Grizzlies responded with a 7-0 run that saw them back on top, 30-24. The first half saw seven different lead changes as the Panthers secured the 40-37 halftime lead off a Herlad three-pointer.

Much like the first half, Franklin came out red hot on offense claiming a 46-42 advantage. Following a Jack Miller three-pointer at the 13:00 minute mark, Hanover was able to pull within 52-50. However, Franklin refused to fumble the lead as they tallied a 9-0 run en route to the win.

Hanover returns to action on Wednesday when they conclude regular season play at Transylvania.
