Hanover Relinquished HCAC Contest at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Panthers (13-12 overall, 9-9 HCAC) concluded the regular season on Wednesday evening with a trip to Transylvania. Hanover fell in the contest 73-60.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Sophomore Malachi McNair tallied a double-double scoring 21 points while pulling down 12 rebounds.

Junior William Herald had 11 points with three made three-pointers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The two teams battled offensively as a Herald three-pointer at the 12:00 minute mark gave Hanover the slight 11-8 lead. However, the Pioneers flipped the score back in their favor moments later with success from deep. The lead reached as many as 22-15 when McNair halted the attack with a pair of free throws.

Sophomore Sheldon Gatlin netted five straight points for the Panthers as he was able to pull HC within 28-24. Hanover finished the first half shooting just 36.67 percent from the floor, trailing 34-26 at the intermission.

In the second half, Herald deemed clutch once more from three-point pulling the Blue and Red within 35-34. They would tie the contest, 41-41, with 13:39 remaining as McNair sank a shot in the paint.

Transylvania refused to surrender the lead, scoring seven straight points to extend the difference to 55-46. The lead reached double-digits with 5:47 to play and the Pioneers never looked back.
