Hanover Drops Doubleheader at Belhaven

Jackson, MS - The Panthers of Hanover (3-5 overall) traveled to Mississippi for a doubleheader against the Blazers of Belhaven (9-0). They were unable to secure a win dropping the first game 18-6 and the second game 8-3. 

Game 1

In The Box
 Freshman Alek Yuskewich (Walton, KY) got the first runs across with a two run home run and followed it up with an RBI double the following inning leaving the game tied at 4-4 through four innings. 

In the fifth inning, they were able to tally two runs on a pair of RBI singles by Senior Josh Simpson (Bardstown, KY) and Sophomore Ben Brittingham (Brownsburg, IN).

On The Bump

Senior John Girard (Richmond, KY) got tasked with the start and tossed for three and two third innings striking out three. Junior Ashton Carie (Madison, IN) came into relief  followed by senior Will Rodriguez (Deland, FL) who closed out the contest.

The runs didn't start coming until the fourth inning for Hanover, Josh Simpson started it off with a fielder's choice RBI. 

Freshman Keegan Gulley (Alexandria, KY) stole home in the fifth inning. In the eighth inning, Michael Kirk got the third and final run across with an RBI single.



On The Bump
Sophomore Dylan Lloyd (Colerain, OH) started the contest and lasted three innings and striking out one. Freshman Parker Heaney (Carmel, IN) finished out the last five innings allowing only one earned run and striking out three. 



The Panthers hope to take one win in the series and keep from getting swept when they play Belhaven in the final game of the series tomorrow (March 6). Game time is set for 12:00 AM EST.
