Despite a Second Half Surge Women's Soccer Falls 3-2 at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (0-1 overall) opened the 2026 campaign with a trip north to face-off against the Thunder of Trine. Despite a strong second half, the Panthers surrendered the non-conference contest 3-2.
 
INSIDE THE STATS
Freshman Corinne Stevens paced the Panther attack, scoring her first collegiate goal on two shots. Sophomore Madi Canavan also found the back of the net.
 
Hanover finished with 10 total shots, collecting a game-high seven on goal.
 
Freshman Kendall Moore got the start between the pipes playing all 90 minutes with two saves.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Thunder of Trine secured the 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of the opening half after landing a strike high on frame. Hanover looked to find the equalizer in the eighth minute as freshman Lauren Bischoff fired a contested shot that was blocked by the Thunder defense. Despite a valiant effort in the first half, the Blue and Red entered the intermission trialing 2-0.
The second half saw the Blue and Red fall behind 3-0 when the offense erupted. Collecting the team's first goal was Canavan in the 69th minute as she executed on a Hanover corner kick.
 
With the momentum shifting in favor of the Panthers, Stevens pressed the box as the sophomore was able to find the back of the net in the 83rd minute, 3-2.

Hanover returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 6 when they welcome the Golden Eagles of Spalding to the Soccer Complex at 3:00 PM.
