MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Hanover Panthers (2-0 overall) dominated offensively on Saturday afternoon defeating Maryville 43-26.
INSIDE THE STATS
Senior
Eian Roudebush paced the offense throwing for 242 totals yards and two touchdowns. He also added 59 yards rushing and two scores.
Clark Rexroat was his top target, securing three receptions for 89 yards.
Junior
Brian Wall dominated on defense collecting a team-high nine tackles with a tackle for loss.
Cole Shively added an interception for 22 yards and three solo stops.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers wasted little time finding the end zone. On Hanover's opening drive, Roudebush connected with
DJ Grinter for a 64-yard touchdown pass just 50 seconds into the contest, 7-0.
Hanover struck again less than four minutes later when Roudebush found
Scotty Johnson for a 38-yard touchdown pass to push the advantage to 14-0.
Hanover added another score before halftime as Roudebush broke free for a 55 yard rushing score. With just 41 seconds left before halftime, the senior found the endzone before converting the two point conversion to enter the half trailing 22-20.
Hanover regained the lead late in the third quarter. After a 13-play, 77-yard drive that consumed more than seven minutes,
Don Dunning capped the possession with a four-yard touchdown run.
The Panthers continued to pull away in the fourth as Roudebush scored his second rushing touchdown of the afternoon on a one-yard run, finishing a nine-play, 73-yard drive.
Hanover added one final score with less than a minute to play, recovering a fumble and returning it four yards for a touchdown.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 19 when they welcome nationally ranked Hope to Alumni Stadium.
