HANOVER v WILMINGTON
WILMINGTON, OH- Hanover continued its strong stretch of play Tuesday night, sweeping Wilmington 3-0 on the road, 25-13, 25-23, 25-17. With the victory, the Panthers improved to 10-3 on the season.
Match Highlights
Hanover controlled the match from the opening set, but Wilmington battled back throughout the second and third frames. The Panthers finished the night with 43 kills on 128 attacks and hit .188 as a team, while Wilmington recorded 19 kills and hit just .036. Hanover also held advantages in assists (39-16), digs (68-51), and aces (13-6).
Abbey McCoy once again led the Panthers offensively, finishing with a match-high 17 kills while hitting .250 (17 kills, .250 hitting, 9 digs, 2 aces).
Ryleigh Plunkitt provided another strong performance (13 kills, .265 hitting, 4 digs, 1 ace, 3 blocks), while
Molly Welborn added five kills and two aces (5 kills, .167 hitting, 3 digs, 2 aces).
Hanover's serving pressure was especially effective.
Madison Schicker led the Panthers with four aces, while
Brooke Gervers added three aces McCoy contributed two aces, while Plunkitt and
Kinzee Dean each added one.
The Panthers also received a strong performance from their setters. Gervers directed the offense with 18 assists (18 assists, 16 digs, 3 aces), while
Megan Vogel added 14 assists (14 assists, 1 kill, 2 digs). Schicker also contributed three assists while anchoring the back row.
Hanover came out firing in the opening set, hitting .387 with 14 kills and just two errors on 31 attacks. The Panthers jumped out to a 25-13 win and carried that momentum into the second set.
Wilmington made the second set much more competitive, but Hanover held on for a 25-23 victory. The Panthers then closed out the match with a 25-17 third-set win, hitting .156 while limiting Wilmington to a -.025 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Gervers led Hanover with 16 digs, followed by Schicker with 12 and
Kaelin Quinlin with 11. The Panthers' 68 total digs helped keep Wilmington from finding consistent offensive rhythm throughout the match.

Hanover's combination of offensive production, serving pressure, and defensive consistency allowed the Panthers to control the match. Hanover finished with a 43-19 advantage in kills, a 39-16 edge in assists, a 68-51 advantage in digs, and a 13-6 advantage in aces. The Panthers also held Wilmington to a .036 hitting percentage for the match, including a -.025 mark in the third set.
