Women's tennis falls at IU-Southeast, 5-4

Box Score

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Hanover women's tennis team split the six singles matches at IU-Southeast Sunday, but ultimately fell, 5-4.

Sophomore Cami Jones (Richmond, Ind.) earned wins in both of her matches Sunday, which was highlighted by a three-set singles victory in the No. 2 spot. Jones took the early advantage, winning the opening frame, 6-2. After dropping the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6, the sophomore rallied to win the third set, 6-4.

Jones also teamed with freshman Haley Parker (Leo, Ind.) in the No. 3 doubles match, where the duo won 8-2. Parker went on to add her own three-set victory in singles play. The freshman now has a team high four singles victories.

Earning Hanover's third singles point was freshman Mia Katzenberger (Crawfordsville, Ind.). Katzenberger cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 decision, improving to 3-0 on the season.

The Panthers (3-2) have now dropped both of their non-conference matches in 2017-18, but the squad does hold a 3-0 mark in HCAC contests. Both of HC's losses this season have come to scholarship institutions.

Hanover will return to conference play next week, as the team will host Transylvania for a 4 p.m. match Wednesday, Oct. 4.
