Panthers suffer season-opening setback at Albion Sunday

ALBION, Mich. – The Hanover women's lacrosse team suffered a 15-1 setback to open its 2018 season at Albion (Mich.) Sunday afternoon.

The Panthers (0-1) received their lone score from senior Mallory Fogus (Grosse Ile, Mich.) with a little less than two minutes remaining in the first half. Fogus was joined by junior Rachel Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.) and sophomore Meg Finn (Newburg, Ind.) to lead the squad with two shots apiece. The trio combined for six of HC's 10 shots in the match. Finn also recorded a team high five draw controls.

In goal, senior Amanda Mousa (Springboro, Ohio) made a career high 17 saves. With a career save percentage near 45 percent entering the season, the senior posted a 53.1 percent mark Sunday.

Five players posted one groundball, while four Panthers tallied one caused turnover. Senior Cassidy Coates (Evansville, Ind.) recorded one groundball and one caused turnover to lead the defensive group.

The Panthers will look to bounce back quickly when they continue their season-opening road trip at Concordia-Chicago (Ill.) Monday, Feb. 26. The game is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
