Women's tennis suffers setback to Centre (Ky.)

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Hanover women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback at the hands of Centre (Ky.) Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers (14-5) fell behind early, dropping the opening two doubles matches 8-3 and 8-2 respectively. Sophomore Cami Jones (Richmond, Ind.) and freshman Haley Parker (Leo, Ind.) nearly picked up a point for the Blue and Red in the third slot before falling, 9-7.

The doubles duo of junior Susie Winternheimer (Indianapolis, Ind.) and sophomore Meghan Farrell (Indianapolis, Ind.) saw their 13-match winning streak come to an end Saturday. The tandem does still hold an incredible 16-3 record this season.

Four of the five singles matches were decided in straight sets, one came via retirement and senior Alana Feeley (Colchester, Vt.) took the opening set of the No. 6 match, 6-3, before dropping the second frame to her Centre (4-6) opponent, 6-3, and the third-set tiebreaker, 10-4.

Hanover will conclude the regular season portion of its schedule with an 11 a.m. match at Wittenberg (Ohio) next Saturday, March 17.
