Box Score

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's tennis team cruised to its 42nd straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season victory, defeating Earlham at home Wednesday evening, 9-0.

To go along with 10 sets where the Panthers did not concede a game, highlighting play was junior Cami Jones (Richmond, Ind.). Jones, who was competing in the top singles spot, rallied to take the final three games in each set during a 6-4, 7-5 victory. Jones also teamed up with sophomore Addison Laker (Indianapolis, Ind.) at No. 2 doubles, where the duo won, 8-0.

The Panthers (2-0, 2-0 HCAC) got off to a fast start, blanking the Quakers (1-2, 0-2 HCAC) in all three doubles contests. Senior Susie Winternheimer (Indianapolis, Ind.) and junior Meghan Farrell (Indianapolis, Ind.) took the top spot, 8-0, while senior Ruth Gaston (Indianapolis, Ind.) and junior Caroline Millard (Cincinnati, Ohio) matched the score in the No. 3 contest.

Farrell was the first Panther to finish in singles competition, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Laker and sophomore Mia Katzenberger (Crawfordsville, Ind.) followed with 6-0, 6-0 wins as well in the Nos. 5 and 6 spots, securing the team victory for HC.

Winternheimer and Gaston finished shortly after the team decision had been confirmed, conceding a total of four games over four sets at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Jones then completed the match sweep with her singles triumph at No. 1.

The Panthers have yet to concede a singles or doubles match this season, outscoring Earlham and Anderson by a combined total of 18-0. Hanover also has a 2-0 overall record for the first time since the 2015-16 season. The back-to-back 9-0 wins to start the year also marks the first time for that occurrence since 2005-06.

The Blue and Red will pause from conference action for the remainder of the week, as they host Oakland City and Ind.-Southeast. Hanover will begin the stretch by facing Oakland City at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20.
