Women's Tennis Wins Pivotal HCAC Match with Transylvania

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's tennis team won a pivotal Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Thursday afternoon as they defeated the Pioneers, 6-3.

The Panthers claimed a pair of key doubles matches as the duo of senior Mia Katzenberger (Crawfordsville, Ind.) and junior Haley Parker (Leo, Ind.)  won No. 3 doubles 8-7. After dropping a tight No. 2 doubles match, the team of senior Cami Jones (Richmond, Ind.) and senior Meghan Farrell (Indianapolis, Ind.) battled tough winning a tie breaker point to claim the 8-7 victory, giving HC the 2-1 lead.

In singles action, Jones got the call at No. 1 singles falling in a hard fought 6-3, 5-6, 5-7 match. Farrell continued her dominance at No. 2 singles as she defeated the Pioneers 6-1, 6-3.

The momentum carried into No. 4 singles as Mia Katzenberger won 6-2, 6-0 before Parker made a come from behind victory to claim the three set, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win.

Securing the Panther win was sophomore Maddie Shannon (Anderson, Ind.) winning No. six doubles 6-2, 7-5.

The Blue and Red return to action on Friday, Oct. 11 as they welcome Manchester to campus. First serve is set for 4:30 p.m.
