HANOVER, Ind. – Behind nine unanswered goals the Hanover women's lacrosse team rallied for a 10-5 victory over Trine (Ind.) at home Wednesday evening.

Trailing 3-0 less than three minutes in, the Panthers (3-5) fired off the final six goals of the first half and the opening three scores of the second half. The win snaps a three-game losing skid and improves HC to 2-3 at Alumni Stadium.

Junior Kinna Laymon (Fishers, Ind.) opened the scoring run with a goal at the 18:13 mark of the first half on a free position attempt. Laymon led HC with four goals on the day, running her team-high season total to 28.

Senior Rachel Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.) followed at 16:35 with her first of three goals on the day. Laymon added two additional scores and junior Meg Finn (Newburgh, Ind.) and Emma Boomershine (Louisville, Ky.) found the back of the net as well to give HC the three-goal edge at the intermission, 6-3.

After trailing by three goals, HC outshot the Thunder (3-3) 11-7 for the remainder of the period. Junior Julia Long (Cincinnati, Ohio) made a save on all seven Trine shots after surrounding three early goals. Long finished with 14 stops, as well as a team-high seven groundballs.

Davis scored the first two goals of the second half and freshman Dianet Sanchez-Vega (Louisville, Ky.) added her third score of the season with 18:07 remaining, putting the Panthers in front 9-3. Laymon added her fourth goal in the closing minutes to secure the five-score margin.

Hanover finished with a 26-22 edge in shots, led by Laymon's 10 attempts. Davis and junior Laurel Atchison (Florence, Ky.) recorded the only two assists for the Blue and Red. Atchison also tallied a season-best seven draw controls.

Defensively, the Panthers caused 14 of the 25 Trine turnovers. Senior Maria Cornacchione (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Tayia Davis (Fishers, Ind.) recorded four and two caused turnovers, respectively, while also combining for 11 groundballs. Junior Sarah Todd (Columbus, Ohio) added three caused turnovers.

Having completed three games in four days, the Panthers will now break for a week until resuming their season versus DePauw. Hanover is set to host the Tigers at 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 3.
