HANOVER, Ind. -- The Hanover women's lacrosse team was on the scoreboard first Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Stadium, but large runs by the Pioneers overcame them in a 21-4 loss.

The Panthers fall to 4-8 with the defeat, including a 1-1 mark in the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference. On the other hand, Transylvania improves to 9-4 overall with a 2-0 slate in the HCLC.

Junior Emma Boomershine (Louisville, Ky.) opened scoring by hitting the back of the net with 27:20 on the clock. The Pioneers fired back with a quintet of scores before junior Kinna Laymon (Fishers, Ind.) capitalized off a dish from classmate Laurel Atchison (Florence, Ky.) with 15:32 remaining in the half to close it to a 5-2 gap. However, Transylvania responded with nine unanswered goals to end the half, making it a 14-2 tally.

The Pioneers would carry their string into the second half, as they found the net on a pair of occasions inside the first five minutes. Freshman Milah Young (Granger, Ind.) would score off a pass from senior Rachel Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.) at 23:55 and added an unassisted goal later in the frame. Despite this, the Blue and Red could not overcome the Transylvania run.

Young led all scorers by hitting the back of the net twice, with Boomershine and Laymon each ending with one goal. Meanwhile, Atchison and Davis each finished with one helper. Defensively, junior Julia Long (Cincinnati, Ohio) made 12 saves and scooped up a pair of groundballs.

Hanover will look to get back on track when the team hosts Thomas More (Ky.) at Alumni Stadium at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 13.
