Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Hanover women's lacrosse team dropped a competitive non-conference contest at Bethel on Saturday evening. The Panthers second half rally fell short as they fell 12-9.
Hanover was paced by freshman Masi McNally-Henricksen (Zionsville, Ind.) with a team-high four goals on eight shots. She also added two assists.
The Panthers claimed the early 1-0 lead in the opening half as junior Brittney Hernandez (Louisville, Ky.) delivered the first blow. However, the Pilots would find the equalizer with just over 20 minutes remaining in the first half knotting the contest, 1-1.
Hanover refused to roll over as they responded within seconds of the Bethel goal. Junior
Milah Young (Granger, Ind.) provided the go-ahead dagger to push the Blue and Red out front 2-1. The back-an-forth battle continued as Young netted another Hanover goal that saw them tie the game at 3-3.
Masi McNally-Henricksen made her way into the scores column as she netted a goal with just under 16 minutes to play to put HC in front 4-3.
However, Bethel continued on the attack tying the contest before taking the 10-4 advantage. Masi netted the final goal of the first half as she beat the Pilot defense to pull HC within 10-5 at the intermission. The Panthers finished the first half with 10 shots paced by Young with four.
The second half saw Masi get a hat trick as she recorded her third goal of the evening with just over 28 minutes remaining, 11-6. Her sister, Taylor McNally-Henricksen (Zionsville, Ind.) delivered a Panther goal that cut the deficit to 11-7 when Masi found the back of the net.
The Blue and red would cut the difference to 11-9 as Young found her third goal of the contest. The Pilots halted the surge and scored the games final goal for the victory.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, March 28 when they head to Marian University. Game time is set for noon.
