Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Hanover women's lacrosse team opened Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening at Transylvania, dropping the contest 18-7.
The Pioneers surged ahead early in the game using a five-goal outburst before freshman Taylor McNally-Henricksen (Zionsville, Ind.) struck with 14 minutes remaining in the opening period to cut the deficit to 5-1.
Hanover continued to slowly chip at the difference as junior
Milah Young (Granger, Ind.) found the back of the net with 8:20 to play pulling within 6-2. Freshman Masi McNally-Henricksen (Zionsville, Ind.) made her way into the scores column as she netted her first goal of the contest off an assist by Young.
The Panthers added two more blows late in the opening stanza following goals by Young and junior
Anne Breeding (Miamisburg, Ohio) to pull Hanover within 7-5 at the break.
However, Transylvania used a scoring frenzy in the second half to capture the 14-5 lead. Taylor McNally-Henricksen halted the charge as she netted a goal at the 9:28 mark, 14-6.
The final Hanover blow came off the stick of Taylor McNally-Henricksen with 4:30 remaining recording a Panther hat trick. However, the Pioneers went on the claim the win 18-7.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, April 17 when they play host to Mount St. Joseph. Game time is slated for 1:00 PM.
