Box Score 2 ANDERSON, Ind. – The Hanover softball team traveled north to Anderson on Saturday afternoon for Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action earning a split with the Ravens. Hanover took game one 3-1 before surrendering game two 6-4.
GAME ONE
The Panthers wasted little time getting on the board in game one as senior
Lily Beurman (Evansville, Ind.) singled up the middle scoring sophomore Kendra Hutchinson (Lafayette, Ind.) for the one run advantage, 1-0.
Hanover added to its lead in the top of the fifth inning as Hutchison got it done at the dish with a double down the left field line that scored senior
Mackenzie Smith (Jeffersonville, ind.) pushing the difference to 2-0.
The final blow came off the bat of Beurman who put the ball on a rope to left field, charting her first homerun of the season en route to the 3-1 victory.
Beurman picked up the win in circle charting a game-high 10 kills, allowing just two hits.
GAME TWO
The night cap saw the Panthers trailing early as the Ravens plated a run in the bottom of the second inning. However, Hanover responded in the next half inning adding two runs. Sophomore
Kensie Bradley (Greenfield, Ind.) scored the first run for Hanover as she hit an RBI to the short stop before senior
Rachel Cox (Indianapolis, Ind.) scored on an Anderson miscue, 2-1.
But the excitement wouldn't last long as the Ravens tacked on two more runs for the in the bottom of the third inning and three runs in the fourth inning for the 6-2 advantage.
The Panthers looked to rally late as they tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth inning but were unable to complete the comeback as they fell 6-4.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 24 when they welcome Bluffton.
