Hanover falls in competitive battle with Transylvania

Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's tennis team fell to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Transylvania on Sunday afternoon, dropping the match 8-1.
 
The Pioneers opened the contest sweeping doubles paly but not without a fight. The team of junior Cassie Froedge (Louisville, Ky.) and freshman Regin Dean (Madison, Ind.) battled tough at no. 3 doubles falling in the tight 8-6 contest.
 
Singles action would see Foedge claim the Panthers lone point of the afternoon as she won her no. 6 singles match 6-1, 6-0.
 
Despite a tough afternoon, Hanover got strong showings as part of no. 1 singles where junior Maddie Shannon (Anderson, Ind.) fell 6-2, 6-4 and no . 2 singles where freshman Melaina Tippery (Loogootee, Ind.) fell 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Isabella Roberts (Brownsburg, Ind.) posted a strong performance as part of no. 4 singles falling 6-2, 6-4 before Dean dropped a close 7-5, 6-4 battle as part of no. 5 singles.
 
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, May 1 when they take on Manchester.
