Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Hanover women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2021 season on Saturday afternoon as they fell in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship at Transylvania, 20-3.
The Panthers finished the year at 4-5 overall, 2-1 HCAC and advanced to their fourth consecutive HCAC Tournament, finishing second overall.
The Blue and Red saw four student-athletes claim All-Tournament team honors junior
Anne Breeding (Miamisburg, Ohio), senior
Charlotte Verbanic (Columbus, Ind.), junior
Milah Young (Granger, Ind.), and freshman
Masi McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.).
Hanover was led in the contest by Young and McNally-Henriksen tying a team-high five shots, with one goal apiece.
Transylvania surged ahead early netting 13 first half goals. However, Hanover got some quality looks on frame as junior
Milah Young (Granger, Ind.) got a free position shot with 26 minutes remaining that missed just wide.
The Panthers would get another chance with 22 minutes remaining as junior
Dianet Sanchez-Vega (Louisville, Ky.) got an attempt at a free position shot that missed high of cage. The Blue and Red closed out the opening stanza with 15 total shots.
The second half saw the Panthers connect for their first goal of the afternoon as Young tallied her 21
st strike of the season pulling Hanover within 14-1. Freshman
Masi McNally-Henriksen made her way into the scores column moments later as she provided another Panther blow, 16-2.
Breeding netted the final Hanover strike as the Blue and Red fell to HCAC foe Transylvania, 20-3.
