Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers dominated the second half using a five goal outburst to claim the non-conference victory over Asbury 8-6. With the win, Hanover moves to 1-3 overall on the year.
After a slow start, senior
Britney Hernandez (Louisville, Ky.) broke the scoreless tie with just 5:46 remaining in the opening frame using a free position shot to beat the keeper. However, the Eagles responded knotting the contest at 1-1.
They tacked on another goal just minutes into the second quarter before sophomore
Masi McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.)netted the tiebreaking strike, 2-2. But the Eagles continued to soar pushing the difference to two goals when senior
Eme Edman (Niles, Mich.) beat the Asbury defense for the Panthers. They entered the break trailing 4-3 on a game-high 16 shots.
Senior
Anne Breeding (Miamiaburg, Ohio) brought the attack in the second half as she found the back of the net at the 14:08 mark before McNally-Henriksen dealt her second blow to push HC on top, 5-4.
They continued to surge as senior
Milah Young (Granger, Ind.) and McNally-Henriksen provided back-to-back goals sending HC to the convincing 7-4 lead.
The rest was history with
Masi McNally-Henriksen tying a game-high four goals to propel Hanover to victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, March 5 at Marietta. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
