Softball sweeps Manchester in dominate fashion; Compton throws no-hitter

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers picked up a key Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference sweep on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Spartans 6-0, 9-1.

With the sweep, HC moves to 8-12 overall, 3-1 in HCAC action.

GAME ONE
Senior Lily (Compton) Beurman (Evansville, Ind.) picked up the game one victory charting her first no-hitter of the season with 11 strikeouts.

The Panthers looked to plate the games first run in the top of the second inning as they loaded the base paths but fell unsuccessful as the Spartans retired the side.

However, Hanover cracked the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning as freshman Dani Steward (Shelbyville, Ind.) doubled to right center scoring junior Kendra Hutchison (Lafayette, Ind.) and freshman Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.). Freshman Mallorie Fultz (Greenfield, Ind.) added another RBI in the inning as she ripped a shot down the left field line. The final run came off the bat of junior Kensie Bradley (Greenfield, Ind.) as she pushed HC on top 4-0.

The scoring frenzy continued for the Panthers as Hutchison charted an RBI with a double to left center in the top of the fourth inning followed by a Beaman RBI to secure the 6-0 victory.

GAME TWO
The Panthers found themselves on the wrong side of a 1-0 deficit in game two as the Spartans plated a run in the bottom of the first inning.

However, Hanover rallied back in the top of the fourth inning with senior Lilly (Compton) Beurman charting the RBI before a Spartan miscue flipped the script, 2-1. They tacked on three more runs in the inning with Fultz and junior Lexi Garloch (Salem, Ind.) both adding RBI, 5-1.

Steward turned in her first RBI of the contest as she scored Beaman in the top of the fifth inning followed by an RBI single from sophomore Ava Hilgenhold (Tell City, Ind.) to give HC the commanding 7-1 lead.

They never looked back tacking on two runs in the sixth inning in rout to the HCAC sweep.

Hanover returns to action on Tuesday, April 12 when they hit the road for Franklin. First pitch is set for 3:30 PM.
