Box Score 2 FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers hit the road for Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Franklin on Tuesday afternoon, splitting the doubleheader with the Grizzlies. Franklin took game one 3-0 before Hanover rallied to capture the nightcap 3-2.
Hanover moves to 9-13 overall and 4-2 in HCAC.
GAME ONE
After a scoreless first inning, the Panthers looked to strike as a pair of Franklin mishaps in the top of the second inning placed runners in scoring position. However, the Grizzlies regrouped and were able to retire the side and leave the Panther runners stranded.
The Grizzlies finally broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning using four hits to plate what would ultimately be the game winning runs.
Freshman
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the start in the circle pitching a complete game allowing just seven hits.
GAME TWO
After falling behind early in the nightcap, the Panthers began to rally.
The bright spot came in the top of the sixth inning as junior
Katherine Dickinson (Francisco, Ind.) reached on a single up the middle before sophomore
Ava Hilgenhold (Tell City, Ind.) pushed the runner to second on a fielder's choice.
Freshman
Alex Miller (Miamisburg, Ohio) handed the rest as she charted a homerun to push HC on top 3-1.
Franklin got one run back in the bottom half of the inning before fifth year
Lily (Compton) Beurman (Evansville, Ind.) was able to retire the Grizzly side and secure the HCAC split.
Hanover returns to action on Thursday, April 14 when they welcome Transylvania to Kops-Bedel Stadium. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:30 PM.
