CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Hanover Panthers hit the road for their 2023 season opener competing as part of the Mount St. Joseph Invite on Saturday afternoon.
Hanover finished third overall in the nine team field with 60 points.
Freshman
Anthony Lloyd (Columbus, Ind.) kicked off the afternoon winning the high jump with a height of 1.92 meters. The jump ranks among the Hanover all-time top 10. He also turned in a fourth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.05 meters.
Junior
Ethan Weston (Mount Washington, Ky.) ran an impressive race in the 3,000 meter run as he sprinted onto the top 10 board, winning the event with a time of 8:59.85. Freshman
Conner Watson (Greenwood, Ind.) took third in a time of 9:42.00 while junior
Owen Via (Pleasant Hill, Ohio) finished fifth with a time of 10:10.66.
The Panthers dominated the 60-meter hurdles as sophomore
Will Simpson (Jeffersonville, Ind.) took third with a top 10 time of 9.26 followed by senior
Torion'Ja Forrest (Peru, Ind.) in fourth in a time of 10.00 and sophomore
Luke Hommell (Greenwood, Ind.) in fifth in a time of 10.25.
Senior
Jake Kehoe (LaGrange, Ky.) posted a strong showing in the shot put taking third with a toss of 13.94 meters while senior
Nick Stroud (Leavenworth, Ind.) finished fourth with a distance of 13.56 meters. The senior turned in a sixth place mark in the weight throw with a toss of 15.03 meters.
In the 200-meter, freshman
Layden Adair (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished seventh in a time of 24.25.
Hanover returns to action on Friday, Jan. 27 when they compete as part of the Friday Night Spikes at Rose-Hulman.
