PREVIEW: Hanover set for HCAC Women's Track and Field Indoor Championship

CARMEL, Ind. – The Hanover women's track and field team is set to open action this weekend as part of the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, Feb. 25.
 
The Panthers enter the meet as a favorite to claim top three finishes in at least 10 events, including three first place spots.
 
Senior Zaleeya Martin (Shelbyville, Ind.) is the favorite to win the 60-meter dash with her school record time of 7.79 seconds set as part of the fifth Friday Night Spikes meet a week ago.
 
Teammate, junior Amberleigh Sorensen (Yorktown, Ind.) enters the weekend as the favorite in the mile with a school record time of 5:16.24.
 
In the field events, the duo of junior Ally McGuire (Guilford, Ind.) and junior Aliza Boles (Lexington, Ind.) are tied for first place among the HCAC in the pole vault with a height of 2.65 meters.
 
Hanover was pegged to finish third as part of the HCAC Preseason Poll receiving 68 points with two first place votes.
 
The Indoor Championships will kick-off on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 1:00 PM with several field events and the 5,000-meter run.
