Box Score 2 HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers (4-10 overall) claimed a doubleheader split with the Comets of Capital on Saturday afternoon dropping the first game 11-2 before winning the night cap 11-4.
GAME ONE
Capital surged ahead in the top of the first inning as they plated two runs on four hits.
The Comets added to their lead in the top of the second inning tacking on three more runs following a pair of Panther hiccups, 5-0.
Senior
Kendra Hutchison (Lafayette, Ind.) looked to jump start the Hanover attack in the bottom of the third inning as she crushed a homerun to left field scoring two runs, 5-2.
However, Capital continued to deal as they added two runs in the top of the fourth inning and four in the top of the fifth inning for the commanding 11-2 win.
GAME TWO
Much like game one, the Comets found themselves leading in the top of the first inning plating two runs.
However, Hanover responded in the bottom half of the inning as sophomore
Dani Steward (Shelbyville, Ind.) picked up her first RBI of the afternoon with a single to left center scoring Hutchison. The rally continued as sophomore
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) hit a shot through the middle infield scoring two more Panther runs, 3-2.
Senior
Kensie Bradley (Greenfield, Ind.) added a run in the bottom of the second inning as she hit a ball to left field scoring Hutchinson, 4-2.
The excitement ensued in the bottom of the fourth inning as sophomore
Carson Kruse (Fort Branch, Ind.) delivered a two out bases loaded blooper pushing the difference to 6-2.
Hanover added a series of insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning with freshman
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) providing the clutch RBI. The final runs of the contest came in the bottom of the sixth inning as HC cruised to the 11-4 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, March 18 when they compete as part of the Pioneer Classic hosted in Elizabethtown, Ky.
