Women's Track and Field finishes second as part of Hanover Invite

HANOVER, Ind. -The Hanover Panthers hosted the nine team Hanover Invitational on Saturday afternoon as they celebrated Senior Day from Alumni Stadium.
 
Junior Amberleigh Sorensen (Yorktown, Ind.) found success on the afternoon as she claimed the top spot in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:58.03. Teammate, sophomore Hanna Whitney (Huntington, Ind.) turned in a fifth place mark in the event in a time of 5:31.80.
 
Junior Natalie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) also captured a first place mark as she won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:12.60.
 
In the pole vault, Hanover swept the top two spots as sophomore Nina Jazdzewski (Paris, Ky.) won the event with a height of 2.96 meters while junior Ally McGuire (Guilford, Ind.) finished second with a leap of 2.51 meters.
 
Senior Zaleeya Martin (Shelbyville, Ind.) turned in a strong performance in the long jump winning the event with a distance of 4.70 meters. The senior also found success in the 100-meter dash taking second in a time of 12.81 seconds. Martin also posted a runner-up mark in the 200-meter dash as she crossed the finish line in a time of 27.28 seconds.
 
Sophomore Jessie Stenger (Brookville, Ind.) captured the number one spot in the discus throw as she recorded a meet winning throw of 40.94 meters. Senior Jessica Beckman (Glenwood, Ind.) nipped at her heals in second with a toss of 40.89 meters.
 
Stenger took second in the shot put with a toss of 12.42 meters while teammate Jessica Beckman finished third with a throw of 11.81 meters.
 
In the 5,000-meter run, freshman Sarah Jones (Greencastle, Ind.) took third in a time of 20:17.73 while freshman Callie Swegman (Columbus, Ind.) turned in a fifth place mark with a time of 20:30.15.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Day, sophomore Emma Litzelman (Plainfield, Ind.), freshman Adair Dooley (Crestview Hills, Ky.), and junior Kelli Brock (Mooresville, Ind.) finished third in a time of 4:45.65.
 
In the hammer throw, Beckman claimed third place with a throw of 43.06 meters followed by senior Lydia Lupinski (Zionsville, Ind.) in fourth with a distance of 42.74 meters. Beckman also captured fifth in the javelin throw.
 
Junior Kennadi Lakins (Crothersville, Ind. )and junior Lili Seals (Paoli, Ind.) captured a fifth place finish respectively as they tied with a height of 1.35 meters.
