Box Score NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Hanover (2-3 overall) suffered second half woes as they dropped a non-conference contest to Muskingum 12-10.
The nail bitter was led by junior
Katie Comer (Indianapolis, Ind.) and senior
Masi McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.) with four goals apiece. Masi finished with a game-high 16 shots. In frame, freshman
Emma Williams (Crestwood, Ky.) and sophomore
Marissa Bardo (Indianapolis, Ind.) combined for 10 saves.
After surrendering the first goal, the Panther offense erupted netting four straight goals.
Masi McNally-Henriksen led the surge with back-to-back blows followed by strikes from sophomore
Natalie Mullins (Greenwood, Ind.) and Comer, 4-1.
However, Muskingum dealt a pair of blows within a minute of each other to cut the Hanover difference to 4-3. Comer added her second goal at the 5:28 mark to push the lead back to 5-3.
The last goal of the first half came from the stick of Comer following an assist by junior
Anissa Weber (Westfield, Ind.), 6-4.
The third period saw Muskingum push the tempo as they rattled off four straight goals to claim the 8-6 advantage. But Hanover refused to roll over as Comer and sophomore
Abby Mensing (Parker, Co.) countered knotting the score 8-8.
The back-an-forth battle ensued when a Muskingum four goal fourth quarter helped propel them to the 12-10 non-conference win.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, March 2 when they travel to DePauw. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
