Fourth Quarter Rally Falls Short at Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Hanover (12-9 overall, 6-8 HCAC) looked to stage a fourth quarter comeback, outscoring the Fightin' Engineers 26-22, before falling 66-59.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Freshman Emerson Vlcan led the Panthers with a team-high 21 points, pulling down five rebounds and adding four blocks.

Senior Alexis Wines netted 11 points and tallied three steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hanover held the slim margin after the first frame with Wines and senior Kaitlyn Lorenzi recording back-to-back scores for an 8-4 difference. Wines remained the hot hand sinking a three-pointers followed by a Vlcan double pushing the Panther advantage 15-11.

However, Rose-Hulman dominated the second frame claiming a 27-22 lead. Rose-Hulman shot 53 percent from the floor in the frame, including 10 points in the lane.

Rose-Hulman pushed the difference with a slight 17-11 edge in the third period. Despite the lop sided scoring the Panther offense caught momentum with senior Lily Ernstes catching a bucket in the paint.

The final frame of action belonged to Hanover as Lorenzi and Wines provided a series of scores. Vlcan cut the score to 56-52 before Rose-Hulman secured the win with success at the free throw line.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday when they celebrate Senior Day with Manchester.
