Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – Despite smashing three homeruns, the Hanover baseball team fell to Rose-Hulman in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon, 12-7. Hanover moves to 9-8 overall on the year.
The first inning would see the Panthers strike first as freshman
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) hit an RBI single to the shortstop that scored junior
Charlie Burton (Columbus, Ind.) following a Rose-Hulman throwing error, 1-0.
The HCAC homerun leaders would add another dinger in the bottom of the second inning as freshman
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) went yard pushing the difference to 2-0.
The long balls just kept coming for the Panthers as sophomore
Le'ron Fleming (Indianapolis, Ind.) sent a shot to deep left field in the bottom of the fourth inning before Roudebush delivered another blow pulling HC within 7-5.
Rose-Hulman tacked on another run before Hanover responded in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Sophomore
Jake Brackett (Brownsburg, Ind.) recorded the RBI as he hit a single through the left side scoring two Panther base runners, 8-7.
However, the Fightin' Engineers continued to hang tough late into the contest as they plated two more runs in the top of the sixth inning and two in the eighth for the victory.
Hanover returns to action on Friday, April 2 when they travel to Transylvania. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
